Care and Support Conference for Reading – with pics

WELLBEING, scam avoidance, safeguarding and therapeutic poetry are just a few of the topics on offer at the council’s Care and Support networking event on today.
The free event, hosted by the council, is taking place at the Town Hall from 9.30am-2.30pm, and brings together service providers and voluntary sector partners, alongside representatives from service user groups, to promote cross working and best practice in the adult care system.
During the morning, delegates will be updated on council news and developments in the care sector.
There will be presentations from Healthwatch on primary care services in Reading and from Therapeutic Poet, Chris Meredith, on his poetry sessions that aim to help unlock the memories of older people suffering from dementia, physical disabilities and emotional problems.
The conference also provides an excellent networking opportunity for small group discussions about a range of care related topics.
This is the council’s sixth Care and Support networking event, which has seen positive take up since its launch in 2014, with the last successful event in September last year attended by nearly 70 organisations.

The council is committed to ensuring locally we all work together so people receive the best possible care and support when they need it and to ensure we can all live fulfilling lives regardless of our needs.
I would urge anyone with an interest in adult social care to attend this informative and engaging conference.
All organisations that currently provide care and support to adults in Reading, or are interested in providing services in the future, are welcome.
