New accessible housing in Hastings Close #rdg

Council press release:
Disabled residents in Reading are celebrating the completion of three new accessible housing properties in Hastings Close, off Hatford Road, Southcote.

A housing development site in Hastings Close, sold by Reading Borough Council to Ability Housing Association, has been developed to create three much needed disabled-adapted affordable homes.

The accommodation in the small development includes a mix of one, two and three bedroom bungalows designed for wheelchair use.

All the homes are now occupied by tenants nominated by the Council from its housing register.

Cllr Rachel Eden, Reading Borough Council’s Lead Member Housing and Neighbourhoods:  ‘I am delighted that we have been able to work together to provide such an important project in Reading. We want to make sure that disabled residents in Reading have the access to homes which they can enjoy and be safe in, as well as enabling them to live fulfilling lives as part of the community.’

David Williams, Ability Chief Executive, said: ‘Through our long partnership with Reading Borough Council we have now delivered over 50 new homes for disabled and vulnerable people in housing need. We are proud to deliver housing which meet the needs of disabled Reading residents.’
