Festive Fun at The Maples Grand Christmas Fayre
20/11/2014
Reading Borough Council Press ReleaseThe MAPLES Resource Centre will be hosting a Grand Christmas Fayre on Saturday 29th November.
Staff at The Maples – a specialist support centre for older people in West Reading – promise a lively, family-friendly event with plant and gift stalls, refreshments, a tombola and lots more. Father Christmas will also make a special guest appearance and children can visit him in Santa’s Grotto.
The money raised will be used to help fund outings and other special events – including hopefully a trip to Millets Farm and a visit to Winchester Cathedral.
Formerly known as the Phoenix Day Centre, The Maples provides services to older people who need support to help maintain their independence and a respite for carers. The Centre offers personal care, specialist assistance to those with poor mobility, respite support to carers and a variety of physical and social activities including yoga, drumming and quizzes.
Cllr Rachel Eden, Reading Lead Councillor for Adult Social Care says:
“The Maples provides quality, flexible day services and is an important part of enabling older people in Reading to live fulfilling lives as part of the community.
“This event will be a great way for families and the wider community see the centre, have some fun and get ready for Christmas.”
