Great opportunity to find out more about service and activities in Reading for older people, people with learning disabilities, physical or sensory needs

One of my key goals for my, still relatively new role, as lead councillor for adult care is to improve the awareness of the services that are out there to support people living fulfiling lives whatver their needs.

The event coming up next week (July 10) is a good way to find out more about what’s available – it’s drop in and anyone who is interested is welcome.

Council press release below:

THE READING Older People’s Partnership, Learning Disability Partnership and Physical Disability and Sensory Needs Network have come together to offer residents a drop-in session on July 10, where they can find out about a range of services, activities and opportunities on offer.
All are services designed to support people to live independently and stay well as they get older or are living with illness or disability.
The event takes place at Greyfriar’s Church in Friar Street between 10.30am and 12.30pm and is an opportunity for older people, those with long term health conditions and their families to have a chat with local organisations that support people in the community.
Discussion topics at the free drop in session are:
10.30am Equipment and Adaptations
10.55am Message in a Bottle
11.15am Forum Voices
11.40am Active Living
12.05pm Healthy and Nutritious Meals
Rachel Eden, Reading Borough Council’s Lead Member for Adult Social Care said: “These events are always popular and I’d encourage as many people as possible, especially those who may not have been before, to come along. It’s a great opportunity to find out more about services and activities that are available in Reading to help people live fulfilling lives.”
Anyone with support needs at any level, carers, and professionals involved in planning or providing services for older or disabled people are all more than welcome to go along.
