As a backer of the campaign for better support for rape victims in the Reading area who could do with a haircut this looks like a great idea! I’m planning to ring up with a bid, don’t want competition but advertising it for a good cause…
Also I’ve just heard that some well known special guests will be attending as well…
A great hair day is the ultimate mood lifter and what better way to feel good about yourself than a haircut with that added karma boosting factor! Local salon – essensuals Reading will be holding a very prestigious salon event on 27th April 2012, whereby clients will be given the opportunity to bid for an exclusive appointment with essensuals Managing Director and award winning stylist, Christian Mascolo.
The funds raised from the event will go towards the campaign costs associated with convincing the NHS and the Thames Valley Police (who are opposed) that a Sexual Assault Referral Centre – SARC – is needed in Reading. The dedicated campaigners, Team SARC have been working for the last eight months to get support in Reading for survivors of rape or sexual assault, as well services such as medical examinations and sexual health screenings. People who have been violated by sexual assault and rape often suffer in silence and loose the chance to secure convictions because evidence gets lost or destroyed. The nearest SARC is in Slough and this stops people from receiving the help they need to prevent failed court cases and lives wrecked by broken relationships and mental health problems.
Bidding will take place by calling the salon on 01189 560 707 or going in to speak to a member of staff – whereby the lucky winners will be announced ahead of the event day. As well as the highest bidders winning a haircut with Christian himself, lucky runners-up will also receive a goody bag for their generosity.
“We’re over the moon to have Christian coming into the salon to work for us for the day and thoroughly appreciate what he’s doing on behalf of essensuals,” said Salon Manager Melissa Walton. “It will be such a privilege for the highest bidders to get their hair done by Christian himself as well as helping to raise money for the SARC campaign – such a worthwhile cause.”
Christian Mascolo, son of Toni Mascolo OBE (of TONI&GUY) trained as a stylist with TONI&GUY and became an accomplished member of the award-winning Art Team.
