Reading Borough Council Press Release

READING'S over 50s are being asked for their views on Reading Sports and Leisure (RSL) activities.

A simple, four question survey is available online and at locations throughout the town. It is being used to gauge how people aged 50 and over would like to keep fit and active. Initial suggestions include Tai Chi, seated exercise classes, aqua mobility and ballroom dancing.

Lead Member for Culture, Sport and Consumer Services, Councillor Paul Gittings said:

“We want all our residents, including those aged 50 and over, to get the most out of life. We are encouraging people to keep fit and healthy by providing leisure services that they will find useful and appealing.”

“If you are over 50 and would like more sessions for your favourite sport or fitness class, or would like to suggest a completely new activity, please let us know.”

The questionnaire runs until 1st April and can be completed online at http://tinyurl.com/RSLExercise, at Reading Libraries or at the following leisure centres:

Meadway Sports Centre
Highdown Leisure Centre
Palmer Park Sports Stadium
Central Swimming Pool
Arthur Hill Pool & Fitness Studio

The results will be used to enhance physical activity opportunities and activities for the 50+ age group across Reading.
