The theme for Commemorating HMD 2014 is ‘Journeys’ for which we are being asked to remember and stand by those who were forced to live through terrible experiences, and to honour those communities that were destroyed in the Holocaust, under Nazi persecution and in subsequent genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur.
Tonight I’ll be joining in the commemoration at Reading Civic Centre to hear about the Journeys some people with particular experience of Genocide.
I’d encourage anyone to attend.
Speakers will include:
– Ziggi Schipper, Holocaust survivor will speak about his ‘Journey’;– Listen to the story of Zeyneba Hardega’s ‘Journey’ out of Sarajevo; and– Students from Reading College will talk about their ‘Journey’ to Auschwitz with the Holocaust Education Trust.
Refreshments will be served.
