Live in South Whitley, #rdg? Have your say on crime and ASB

Council press release:

Safer Reading Partnership is inviting residents of South Whitley to have their say on which three crime and anti-social behaviour issues are concerning them the most.

Residents can find and fill in surveys at various shops in the South Whitley area, as well as the Whitley Wood Community Centre and the Advice Shop. People can also let their priorities be known via an online survey, available atwww.surveymonkey.com/S/C9KBYYD. The survey only takes a couple on minutes to fill and residents do not have to include their names and address.

Residents will then be able to receive feedback from the survey’s results and vote on top priorities at one of two public meetings, both at Whitley Wood Community Centre off Swallowfield Drive, on Tuesday 29th May, 2pm till 3pm and Thursday 31st May, 7pm till 8pm.

The results will be publicised and a problem solving action group will be set up to tackle each separate issue, starting with the highest priority. Each group will consist of members from the police, local authorities, and representatives from the community to work together to tackle to take action on each specific issue.

Reading Borough Council’s Lead Councillor for Housing and Neighbourhoods, Rachel Eden, said: ‘I’d urge residents of South Whitley to tell us their views about crime and safety issues as it’s really important to ensure that both the police and council can get a full picture.

‘We need to keep working together as a community with the council and police to get the best for the neighbourhood, and this consultation is an important part of that.’
