3rd year of your community your cash – video and more info
I’ve blogged a few times over the last couple of years about the ‘your community your cash’ initiative. This was piloted in summer 2011 when I was newly lead councillor for housing and has gone from strength to strength. I’m so proud of what the communities that have taken part in previous years have achieved with the cash. It is being expanded to new areas again this year and it it’s a good example of the Labour administration’s slogan “Working better with you” in action: funded by tenant’s rents, supported by the council and benefiting the community in the way they want working together. The video below is a great introduction to the scheme. It features two of the funded schemes in Whitley ward: the grassroots football club for young men and the play barn run by one of the local churches.
