Reading Borough Council Press Release
THE BOROUGH'S latest social club for older people is being launched on Thursday 10th April at The Milestone Centre, Northbrook Road.
Running from 10.30am to 2.30pm, the club is being funded and supported by Reading Borough Council but led by volunteers from the Caversham Older People’s Steering Group with support from Age UK Berkshire Active Living.
Weekly get-togethers will offer fun, accessible activities for the over 50’s and the launch event includes a seated exercise demonstration, a free hot lunch and tea, coffee and cake.
Councillor Rachel Eden, Lead Member for Adult Social Care said:
“I’m very happy that following the success of the older people’s social club at Amersham Road, we are able to extend into Caversham Park Village.
“Older residents in North of the river have asked for more social clubs and activities local to them and by working in partnership with the community we’re able to deliver.
“I would encourage people to come along, meet up with other older residents and let us know what other services they would like to see for their community.”
