We are sure you will have heard the terrible news that our much-loved MEP candidate Del Singh was killed last week while working in Kabul. Del was 39 and he was one of 21 people killed in a devastating suicide attack in Kabul. He died alongside others like him who worked to make the world a better place.

Del Singh was one of the nicest people you could ever wish to meet. He would always greet you with a warm welcome and a broad smile. For those of us you had the privilege to know him personally we have lost a decent, kind and compassionate friend.
Del was a hardworking and dedicated member of the Labour Party and had the potential to be an outstanding parliamentarian. He would have been a first class MEP or MP. He was enjoying being a member of the south east European team where his professional competence working in international development and campaigning skills were proving a real asset to the campaign.
Del was highly respected in the party as a good campaigner, he would always appear at by-elections to campaign for the party, whether local council or parliament. He was acknowledged as an expert in International Development and foreign affairs and his advice was often sought by leading figures in the party. Del was a leading member of the influential Labour Friends of Palestine whose receptions at Annual Conference are always a night to remember.
Del had a huge network of friends and contacts in the party, everyone not only knew Del but they always had a good word to say about him. Del Singh was a good and loyal member of the Labour Party with belief in democratic socialism with a strong independent mind and a lovely sense of humour.
He will be missed by everyone who had the joy to know and work with him. Our thoughts are with Del’s family, loved ones and his many friends at this difficult time,
