Event to celebrate recovery from addiction

READING'S Drug and Alcohol Action Team will be hosting a celebratory event later this month for people either in recovery or who want to learn more about it.

The Reading Recovery Event takes place on Thursday June 25th at The Pavilion, 143-145 Oxford Road, starting at 9.30am.

Keynote speaker at the event will be Mark Gilman, the National Recovery lead for Public Health England. As well as welcoming people who may be recovering or want to recover from drug and alcohol problems, the event will also welcome a range of organisations, including treatment workers and faith and community groups, who pay an active role in helping people with drug and alcohol issues.

Participants will be able to experience and explore some recovery orientated activities such as drumming therapy, and discuss some of the key issues around recovery.

Entry is free and people are being encouraged to bring along anyone who they feel may benefit. People are asked to register for a ticket on the Eventbrite web site so that organisers can get an idea of numbers for catering. It is an opportunity for people who want to start the journey to recovery to find out a bit more about what it means. It is also a chance to say thank you all those who support people in making a recovery.”
