Fwd: Access and Disabilities Working Group Host Q&A Session

I'm pleased that one of the Conservative MPs has agreed to take questions on welfare reform from the members of Access and Disabilities working group.  An open invitation remains, on a date of his choosing to the other.

Reading Borough Council Press Release

READING'S Access and Disabilities Working Group will be meeting for a question and answer session on Friday 21st November, 12.00 midday in the Council Chamber of the Civic Offices.

The Chair of the Group, Cllr Rachel Eden, has invited both Reading MPs to attend the session and Reading East MP Rob Wilson has confirmed his attendance. Anyone with an interest in disability issues is very welcome to attend the meeting on 21st November.

The group campaigns for improved access for people with disabilities and identifies and promotes public awareness of the problems disabled people face when trying to access public buildings, commercial premises, the highway network and public transport.

Additionally, members act as a pressure group to monitor and review the role of the Council as an employer and as a provider of services to disabled people.

Lead Member for Adult Social Care, Cllr Rachel Eden said:

“The Access and Disabilities Working Group is vital in challenging and advising the Council and others to ensure that all of Reading residents are empowered to live fulfilling lives.

This special Question and Answer session will give members of the public an opportunity to ask our national representatives about issues that impact people with disabilities, especially welfare reform.”
