> TEENAGERS and older people enjoyed time together when volunteers from the National Citizen Service ran a special activity week at the Willows Care Home on Hexham Road.
>
> A group of 15 to 17 year old volunteers organised a varied timetable of events to appeal to all tastes. For those with a sweet tooth and the gift of the gab, there was reminiscence baking – when residents were encouraged to share stories and recipes while they baked. Crafts were also available for more arty types, including plant pot painting.
>
> Special guests, the Reading West SDA Youth Choir lead a popular session where many of the young volunteers provided the musical accompaniment. And an afternoon tea party was a chance for everyone to get together and have a catch-up.
>
> Lead Member for Adult Social Care, Cllr Rachel Eden, said:
>
> “I would like to thank all the young volunteers and the staff at The Willows for such a lively and enjoyable events week. It is wonderful to see people of different generations coming together and enjoying each other’s company.”
