With the current crisis in Kashmir Rachel has been working with John Howarth MEP and neighbouring Labour MP Matt Rodda to support those in Reading West who are concerned and affected.
It was therefore an honour to welcome guests including His Excellency Sardar Masood Khan, President of Azad Jammu Kashmir to Reading West last week. The importance of a peaceful resolution that protects the rights of the Kashmiri people is very clear and the UN position needs to be respected. I spoke on this in welcoming our visitors.
As the United Kingdom we have both a historic responsibility on this issue, but we also have many of our own residents with families members affected.
The world must not turn its face away. We need peace for the sake of the Kashmiri people.
