Reading will showcase young people at our Olympic celebration

Council press release:

Over 160 of Reading’s young people are getting ready to strut their stuff in front of 20,000 people and a special torch.

Pupils from Southcote Primary, Geoffrey Field Primary, Caversham Primary, Oxford Road Primary, Brookfields School, Highdown Secondary School, Reading College, along with representatives of the Indian Community Association and Read School of Dance and Theatre have been taking part the programme over the last 12 months, The Tree of Life, to celebrate the Olympics coming to Great Britain.

To celebrate the torch coming to Reading, the group will be performing a dance routine in front of an estimated 20,000 crowd at the Madejski Stadium during the Olympic Torch Relay Celebration event on Tuesday 10th July.

Reading Borough Council’s Lead Councillor for Culture and Sport, Marian Livingston, said: ‘The Olympic Torch is coming ever so closer to our town and the air of excitement is palpable. I want to wish everyone involved with the performance the very best of luck and I am sure they will make us proud.’
