Rene Celebrates 101st Birthday at the Phoenix Day Centre
18/09/2013
Reading Borough Council Press Release
A POPULAR centenarian celebrated her 101st birthday with a party at the Phoenix Day Centre.
Irene Snow, known as Rene, enjoyed cake and a glass of bubbly at her birthday party, organised by Phoenix Day Centre staff. Reading born and bred, Rene first lived off the Oxford Road, and moved to East Reading after she married.
Rene, who was recently given a full, clean bill of health, looks forward to visiting the centre every Tuesday to have lunch with her friends there. Her secret to a long life is the occasional glass of rum.
Rachel Eden, Reading Lead Councillor for Adult Social Care, said:
“I'm delighted that Rene enjoyed her 101st birthday with friends at the Phoenix Day Centre. It's a wonderful milestone and I hope will be a very happy memory for her and everyone who celebrated with her.”
