@ReadingLabour starts selection for Parliamentary candidates

UPDATE: The Party’s press release was too modest, in fact we won 11 seats in May not 10 (thanks to anonymous commentator)

Won’t comment further as I will be involved in the choosing the long and short lists for Reading West, but release follows below:

Reading & District Labour Party Media Release

10 September 2012

2015 General Election: Labour opens candidate selections for Reading seats

After winning ten of the sixteen Borough wards in May and regaining overall control of Reading Council, Reading & District Labour Party is inviting nominations for both Reading East and Reading West constituencies for the next General Election, which is expected to be held in May 2015.  Reading East is to be an open selection, but Reading West this time will choose from an all women short-list.
Chair Ben Zielinski says: “”In the local elections in May, people in Reading made clear they are fed up with this incompetent Conservative-led Government. Reading’s Tory MPs are junior members of that Government. They defend Cameron and Osborne’s failed policies, rather than standing up for hard-working families here in Reading. Reading deserves better.
“I am pleased to announce that Labour will soon select its candidates to take on the Tories. I am sure we will attract a high calibre of candidates, who will provide a strong voice for Reading.”
The two selection processes, which will proceed in parallel, kick off with the formal advertising of the vacancies by the Labour Party nationally and are expected to conclude towards the end of the year.
