#Rdg Comes Together to Improve Care and Support – 30th September

#Rdg Comes Together to Improve Care and Support – 30th September

Like the rest of the country, Reading faces huge challenges to ensure we can all live fulfilling lives regardless of our needs.

Within the government’s budget cuts, Reading Labour councillors are ensuring that Reading’s Council is committed to ensuring locally we all work together so people receive the best possible care and support when they need it.

I am working to ensure that the council involves and works in partnership with others.  I’m really pleased that officers are doing more to organise more face to face informal work with providers, users and carers.  There’s a lot still to do but the care and support networking and conference events have been particularly successful.

The fifth of these 30th September and I would urge anyone with an interest in adult social care to attend this conference as they are always very popular and useful – but also help Reading policy makers to make better decisions.

Reading Borough Council Press Release below:

READING Borough Council is hosting its next Care and Support Conference on Wednesday 30th September. The free event, taking place at the Town Hall from 9.30am-2.30pm, brings together service providers and voluntary sector partners to promote cross working and best practice in the adult care system. Support for people with dementia will be top of the agenda, alongside encouraging take up of direct payments and raising awareness of a national initiative called Making Safeguarding Personal. The Care Quality Commission will be presenting at the event on the inspection process and Healthwatch Reading will discuss how user feedback can help improve care services.

As well as key speakers, the conference also provides an excellent networking opportunity for small group discussions about a range of care related topics. This is the Council’s fifth Care and Support networking event, which has seen positive take up since its launch in September 2014, with the last successful event in April this year attended by nearly 70 organisation.
