Reading Borough Council Press Release
PEOPLE in Reading who care or have cared for a friend, relative or neighbour can enjoy some well deserved downtime at a free Carers Week event.
Reading Borough Council is hosting a carers event at The Maples Resource Centre, Amethyst Lane, off Liebenrood Road on Saturday 14th June, 11am to 3pm. The event includes a free lunch and activities such as manicures, massages, skittles games and a men’s social club. It is a chance for Reading carers to unwind for a few hours and to talk about their experiences.
Lead Member for Adult Social Care, Cllr Rachel Eden said:
“Carers are some of the unsung heroes in Reading and it’s important for them to take time out for themselves.
“The Maples event is a chance for Reading to say thank you to carers with lunch, pampering and fun.
“It’s also an opportunity for carers to find out more about how the council and other organisations can support them and their loved one in getting the most out of life.”
If you are a carer and would like attend the event, please contact Tracey on 0118 937 5364 to book your free place.
