There are 40 road closures across Reading borough over the Jubilee weekend, and I believe quite a number more parties planned without road closures.
In Whitley the big one will be Northumberland Avenue noon onwards on Saturday. It’s being organised by South Reading churches as an alternative to their usual fun day and I am sure will be organised with their usual thoroughness and good community spirit. I’m looking forward to it!

With the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations fast approaching, Reading Borough Council is delighted to announce the 42 official Reading street parties.
Roads will be closed and residents will be dancing in the streets of the following parties:

” School Terrace

” End of South Street and Bottom End of Watlington Street

The biggest of the street parties may very well be at Northumberland Avenue as organisers are expecting hundreds of people to attend. Organisers will not only be celebrating the Queens Jubilee, local leaders also want to highlight Northumberland Avenue’s Olympic heritage, as the road was part of the 1948 Olympic torch route.
Mayfield Drive’s street party also promises to be memorable as local leaders aim to build on the reputation of last year’s unforgettable Royal Wedding street party. The Southcote Residents Association will be hosting a street party in Coronation Square, along with a family funday and picnic.
