A HEXHAM Road care home is celebrating the opening of its new sensory garden with a party for residents and their families.

The new dementia-friendly facilities, funded by a government grant, have been designed to enhance the lives and general wellbeing of the residents. The garden revamp includes a conservatory, raised beds for flower and vegetable planting, seating areas, wildlife spaces and games.

Lead Member for Adults Social Care, Cllr Rachel Eden, said:

“The Willows’ therapeutic garden is another important step in the Council’s ongoing commitment to making Reading a dementia friendly town.

“Reading can be proud of winning funding to continue to invest in ways of ensuring residents of the Willows can thrive. The garden is a wonderful facility and I am sure that residents will enjoy the opportunity to spend more time outside in an attractive, safe environment.”
