Tributes to Bill Palmer

Tributes to Bill Palmer

Bill Palmer a stalwart member of the Reading Labour Party and the Cooperative Party’s funeral is today.

I thought it would be good to reproduce a few tributes that have been paid to him:

Reading Labour Councillors have described him as:  “a kind and principled man and a true socialist”.

Reading Coop Party membershp secretary, Sylvia Trevis said:

He was such an active member and also our Reading Chairman for many years and always helpful and supportive, he had so much integrity it was always a pleasure to be in his company.
He has two surviving sons and Dorothy who is also a much loved and valued member of the Reading Co-op Party. Both were also very active in the Labour Party for many years and in the short time that I have known both of them I don’t think that I have ever met such busy, caring and active members. I am sure his friends at the bowling club will miss him too, as in indeed, will the family and all of us who knew him.

Reading Labour party secretary added:

Bill was originally from South Wales and was a retired Headteacher. He served for many years as treasurer of Katesgrove ward and as a GC delegate on behalf of the Co-op Party. Together with his wife Dorothy Bill also generously offered their house as the Katesgrove committee room.

He will be missed by everyone who knew him and he gave so much dedication to the party.
I believe he left the world better than he found it.
