Fellow Councillor Kelly Edwards and I visited the new distribution centre that is opening shortly in Whitley.
While there we raised the issues of local jobs and community involvement. I was pleased ot notice they already have a noticeboard up for their union rep (USDAW) and have very positive plans in place for workforce traning, development and progress.
They were particularly keen for more women to apply for jobs at the centre – warehousing is not just a man’s world and there are also some parent friendly shifts available 10-2pm!
